These are the podcasts which have opened my mind and helped me grow. This is not to say that they are the best personal growth podcasts out there or intended to be an assumption that you will resonate with them. Inner growth depends heavily on where we come from, where we’re at on the journey, and what ignites our inner spark, curiosities and desires.
As I learn more about wellness and coaching in the larger context of humanity I’m sure I’ll collect content for a broader audience. For now, here’s a list of the podcasts that have kept me busy thinking the past several years.
“Mindrolling Podcast is about coming unstuck and the recent history of awoken awareness. It’s about the intersection of culture, consciousness and realization “
- Topics: meditation, mindfulness, spirituality, Buddhism, Neem Karoli Baba
- Downside: Guests and host sometimes get caught up in discussing the past and inner friend groups
- Upside: Easy to listen as calming and hopefully information is always presented, broad range of guests (especially from 2017 – 2018), explains how to integrate what’s presented into daily life
Third Eye Drops with Michael Phillip
“Third Eye Drops is a purveyor of interviews, outerviews and wonder-mongering for sentient sapein seekers.”
- Topics: the nature of reality, consiousness, creativity, neuroscience, psychedelics, the arts, futurism, technology
- Downside: guests sometimes return to the show without a clear distinctions from the previous episode, sizable focus on psychedelics
- Upside: you never know what the next episode will bring in the best kind of way, huge variety of guests from every field and discipline, amazing host who balances questioning with conversation in a way that’s easy for the listening to learn from
The Science of Success with Matt Bodner
“The Science of Success is about – the acquisition of wisdom – the path to unlocking the latent potential inside every single person to make our world better – to make ourselves better – to break free from fear and anxiety, to live happy and fulfilling lives – to make the most of our time here on earth. “
- Topics: cognitive science, evidence based growth, performance, mindfulness, neuroscience, centered around improving productivity
- Downside: can be anxiety provoking and overly focused on productivity as a measure for “success”
- Upside: presents the right amount and depth of information to easily integrate into daily life, despite being centered around productivity a decent amount of guests come across as being grounded in a peaceful lifestyle
“Each week Rich delves deep into all things wellness with some of the brightest and most forward thinking, paradigm busting minds in health, fitness, nutrition, art, entertainment, entrepreneurship & spirituality. Intimate, deep and often intense, these are not interviews. They are conversations. A weekly aural dance designed to provoke, educate, inspire and empower you to discover, uncover, unlock and unleash your best, most authentic self. “
- Topics: radical athletic performance, nutrition, plant based diet, yoga, consciouse living, self- discipline, overcoming limits, creating something from nothing
- Downside: (In my opinion ) A ridiculous amount of focus on athletic pursuits, nutritional supplements, and performance enhancement
- Upside: The guests are wise and have a lot of meaning to bring to the world no matter what the topic
The Astral Hustle with Cory Allen
“On my podcast The Astral Hustle I discuss how to live better with leading experts in mindfulness, neuroscience, and philosophy. I believe the more we understand ourselves, the less we suffer.”
- Topics: mindfulness, meditation, consciousness explorations, the arts, creativity, music, connections between science and spirituality, alternative forms of spirituality
- Downside: I have not yet discovered one, but some guests also appear on the Third Eye Drops podcast
- Upside: Positive, inspiring, thought provoking in a way that’s motivating without stress inducing elements
If you have comments, suggestions, or criticism I would love to hear about it!
My biggest critique of this list is that 3/ 5 of these podcasts are associated with the MindPod Network. I would like to think that podcasts help bring awareness outside my own little bubble. However, it unfortunately appears that I’ve primarily placed myself within just a slightly larger virtual bubble of like minded humans.
